Haiku (Hood) by Fabrizio Crisà
2018 - 2019, Platinum A' Home Appliances Design Award Winner
Haiku is the line of Elica hoods that best summarises the essence of lines, performance and materials. The name is inspired by a Japanese poem characterised by essential writings combined with the richness of conceptual suggestions. This new Elica extractor system is in fact the result of the desire to simplify and create a pure form, freeing it of superfluous elements while at the same time enriching it with different contents that work together in harmony. Haiku takes inspiration from the traditional t-shaped hoods with a modern aesthetic.
Haiku is a range of hoods that combine form, materials and performance. Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry characterised by a minimalist written form but rich in conceptual content and meaning. As the name suggests, the Haiku hoods epitomize simplicity of form yet offer a host of features which sit in complete harmony. Haiku is available in wall versions of 32, 60, 90 and 120 cm and in island versions of 32, 120, 180 cm.
Design Challenges
Low consumption, low noise, LED lighting are the features of Haiku. But Haiku brings also poetry in the costumer life. It's a object that tells more than a normal cooker hood, the simplicity yet the richness of the materials are blended together in delivering a product that is disruptive.
Production Technology
An innovative solution designed for wall-mounted installation in the 32cm, 60cm, 90cm and 120cm versions and for islands. In the wall mounted version, Haiku features a high-tech system that offers maximum installation flexibility, allowing the depth to be adjusted from 32cm to 38cm so that the hood is always aligned with the kitchen wall units. Technologies used are fusion for the cast iron grids, water jet for the foreground panel, injection moulding for plastic components and industrial folding for the chimney.
