Angle (Bookshelf) by Selami Gündüzeri
2016 - 2017, Platinum A' Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design Award Winner
When I first started designing Angle, the first idea in my mind was to create a form and make it as a single use, and at the same time reach an unlimited size when it is combined and increased. So it had to be infinite.
"Angle" has a multiplying and unlimited design that consists of a single unit. Increasing of the single unit by combining, a library or separator can be created in the desired measures and forms. Each unit is connected with the metals placed in the round hole and the magnets to be used together. In a small house, a small library can be created with the less number of units, while larger libraries and separators can be created in large spaces.
Design Challenges
The greatest difficulty was to adjust the appliques system of multi-laminated sheet on the mold without them return to previous situation. a system of clips could be removed without leaving visible marks, and was important in the project was developed quickly.
Production Technology
First, Angle's form mold is made. After placing the rotating counters on the mold, they are pasted on top of each other and pressed to form the mold. In the last stage, the surface is coated with matte lacquer and the production process is completed and Angle are joined together by magnets so that they are easy to assemble and have a different form when desired
